Why are we fighting entropy?

Note: The views expressed here are my own bad ideas and do not reflect the views of Powerhouse.

I really like the idea that life is a kind of “negative entropy” – consuming energy in order to reduce or slow the growth of universal entropy. That’s a mission I can sign up for. The units of entropy are Joules / Kelvin, thus the bad J/K pun. I’ve been told that everyone should write, so here’s where I’ll be writing down some thoughts.
